Our recent Cloud9 Youth Summit witnessed a host of entrepreneurs in attendance, providing advice and guidance on life and business- two of which were founder of volunteering gap-year company Madventurer, John Lawler and Big Brother 6 winner Anthony Hutton.
As part of a panel of entrepreneurs put to the test with probing questions on their businesses and entrepreneurialism in general, John Lawler (clad in his Chief robes) gave useful insights into his volunteering and gap-year company and his general experiences in business to date.
Big Brother 6 winner Anthony Hutton was interviewed by Cloud9 host Caspar Berry. In a compelling, tell-all interview Anthony spoke about Big Brother, his life since and his business ambitions.
However, after the event and behind the scenes Anthony and John met, and the idea for a MAD challenge began to form!
Anthony, a keen footballer, and holder of an FA coaching qualification will be going with John’s volunteering company Madventurer to Kenya this summer.
John said: “It is really early days but we’re really excited about his ideas which include a massive footy tournament in Kenya to raise cash for local schools. We’ve just set up a JustGiving page (http://www.justgiving.com/anthonygoesmad) which links through to the Mad Foundation.”
This unique tournament will link sports teams from communities in the UK with sports teams in Kenya. This six week block will feature a MAD world cup final where prizes will be given to the winning teams.
The aim of the project is to try and make a difference to the schools that take part by donating sport and educational supplies, and to get involved in coaching the teams throughout the tournament.
This just proves the power of making connections and the possibilities that result!
Follow Anthony’s Kenyan adventure story on twitter (Anthony goes Mad) and the Mad World Cup blog on www.madventurer.com, as Anthony aims to help raise £10,000 for the Mad foundation.
